Kaltungo monarch holds Christmas/New Year Durbar

The paramount ruler of Kaltungo Chiefdom in Gombe State, the Mai Kaltungo, Engineer Sale Muhammad Umar, has hosted a peace and unity durbar tagged ‘Pan-Mana’ in his Palace to mark the Christmas and New celebrations.

The durbar which had in attendance, the Emir of Dutse in Jigawa State, Muhammadu Nuhu Sanusi, Emir of Dukku, Abdulkadir Rasheed II and Emir of Tula, Abubakar Atare Buba II as well as many prominent sons and daughters of the Chiefdom within and outside the country, is aimed at encouraging peace and unity within and outside the chiefdom.

According to the Mai Kaltungo, the event was organized in order to bring the people together with a view to ensuring peaceful co-existence as well as to share in the joy of the season together. He urged his subjects to imbibe the spirit of sharing and to live in peace with each other.

The durbar which had in attendance over a hundred well-attired children aged between 12 and sixteen years was also aimed at grooming the children from the community on reading culture as a well equipped library with computers had been provided in the Palace.

The Mai Kaltungo said, “We have the museum and we have all these facilities there just for children and people to know how to operate. At the palace, we have computers and many textbooks that are highly advanced for both secondary schools and starters in education”.

Some of the books, said the Mai, were made available to the children from the United States, having been donated by children’s homes.
“The Pan-Mana is an occasion for all of us to come together for peace and unity and to share our common heritage,” the Mai Kaltungo said.

Speaking at the event, the Emir of Dutse, HRH Muhammadu Nuhu Sanusi, who was the royal father of the day, commended the people for the prevailing peace in the area, urging them to continue to support the Mai Kaltungo in sustaining the peace.

A tumultuous crowd turned out to witness the durbar, with spectators thrilled by horse riders.
