New minimum wage: Tambuwal calls for review of revenue sharing formula, backs NLC demands

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state has urged Labour Leaders in the country to intensify agitation for the review of the nation’s revenue sharing formula.
He stated this Wednesday while receiving NLC members at Government house Sokoto who staged a rally agitating for the implementation of N30,000 new minimum wage for the Nigerian workers.
Tambuwal pointed out that too much money was concentrated at the centre hence the need for the sharing formula to be reviewed so that state Government workers could be properly remunerated.
He, therefore, appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to fight corruption by properly. remunerating public servants there by tackling the menace of corruption afflicting the nation.
Governor Tambuwal explained that it was constitutional for the revenue sharing formula to be reviewed after every five years
He said that state government was working in harmony with civil service as the engine room of public service assuring that the state government would implement the new minimum wage the moment it is passed into law.
Earlier the national president of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC Comrade Ayuba Waba represented by the national auditor who is also Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor on Labour Matters Comrade Isah Yunusa Danguguwa said they staged the rally to actualise their agitation for the implementation of 30,000 Naira new minimum wage.
Danguguwa described Governor Tambuwal as labour friendly and urged him to talk to his counterpart Governors as well as other leaders to press for the implementation of the new minimum wage.
He, therefore, commended Governor Tambuwal for being one of the leaders that championed the implementation of the 18,000 Naira minimum wage and applauded the Sokoto State government for agreeing to implement the wage bill when passed into law.
