Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration in Ogun State has received a damning verdict from the former Ogun State Speaker and two term Commissioner under the Senator Ibikunle Amosun administration, Bashorun Muyiwa Oladipo.
Oladipo, who made this assertion while briefing newsmen, against the backdrop of the Abiodun’s government failure to provide dividends of democracy to the masses, in his office at Oke-Yeke, Isabo Abeokuta, said Ogun indigenes were yet to experience the fulfilment of his last election’s campaign promises.
He said that the current administration in the State is incompetent and not performing, saying the governor (Abiodun) is already afraid of imminent defeat at the polls, especially from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate, Barr. Biyi Otegbeye, who stands the chance of winning the race.
According to him, the Abiodun administration has failed the masses. He said that Abiodun is not in charge of governance of the state and that there are some cabals within his government in charge of affairs. Oladipo said further that the people have not seen the infrastructural facilities promised, that the poor are getting poorer, that state civil servants are wallowing in abject poverty under the administration, while a tiny club of nouveau riche are flourishing at the expense of the people.
He added that the Abiodun administration is owing civil servants 24 months’ deductions, years of leave bonuses and many more, saying market women and men, motorists and commuters in state are all complaining of inability to live a normal life under his watch.
Oladipo said “over three years now, there has been no positive change in the major indices of growth and development, be it poverty reduction among the civil servants, safety and security, disease control or access to basic amenities and even public good.
“Sincerely speaking, this administration did not prepare for governance, considering the growing insecurity, dilapidating infrastructure, bad roads, educational decadence and level of hardship the indigenes across the state are facing, especially among the public/civil servants in the state”, Oladipo said.
He added that the current government appeared to have no direction in its policies, thereby causing inhabitants to be disillusioned with it, noting that the governor has in recent times embarked on renovation of some roads, which cannot stand the test of time, so as to use them as a bait for people’s vote come March 18, 2023.
“He promised heaven on earth during the 2019 electioneering campaign, now all to no avail. Another election is around the corner, and he has started cajoling the people through sub-standard projects across the state, that’s more reason people need to shine their eyes”, Oladipo stressed.
