ADP commiserates with pipeline explosion victims     …Condemns Gov. Wike for nonchalance

Gov. Nyesom Wike

The candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the 2019 governorship election, Mr. Victor Fingesi has commiserated with the families of the victims of the pipeline explosion at Kom Kom community in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

A statement issued in Port Harcourt and signed by his spokesman, Mr. Kendrick Christian, stated that it was horrifying to watch on television scores of people burn to death.
It stated that what pushed the victims to their early grave was the hunger and poverty in Rivers State.
The statement urged the Rivers State government to expediently embark on a programme that would reduce poverty to the barest minimum in the state.
It wondered why Gov. Nyesom Wike had not deemed it fit to visit the affected area to commiserate with some victims in the hospital as well as the bereaved families.
Furthermore, it stated that he (Fingesi) refused to believe that the reason being insinuated for the Governor for not visiting them was because he did not win in Oyigbo LGA.
“If it is true, then, it’s unfortunate and negates the principles of democracy”, the statement noted.
It commended President Muhammadu Buhari for consoling the bereaved families and his promise to look into the cause of the explosion.
On the state governor’s directive to public schools not to collect any fees from pupils and students, the statement said that the Governor should improve the welfare of teachers, which would go a long way to discourage them from imposing illegal fees on pupils and students.
