Some Libyan media outlets reacted strongly to CAF’s ruling, urging authorities to take action against Nigerians in the country. However, the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded with a statement on Sunday, reassuring citizens in Libya that they can go about their activities without fear of harassment.
The Ministry stated, “As of now, Nigerians in Libya are continuing their daily lives without any issues from Libyan authorities despite the CAF decision.” The Ministry also stressed its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Nigerians abroad, saying, “The well-being of Nigerian citizens anywhere in the world is a top priority, and we will keep working to protect it at all times.”
The Ministry urged Nigerians in Libya to remain calm, assuring them that the situation remains under control.
