The Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal constituents, under the group, TeamDasuki, have celebrated Rep. Abdussamad Dasuki (PDP-Sokoto), the member representing their constituency in the House of Representatives, for his successful first year in office.

The celebration, which coincided with Dasuki’s 46th birthday, featured an inter-school spelling bee and reading competition in Kebbe local government area on Monday.

Speaking at the event, the convener of TeamDasuki, Mr. Anass Dukura, stated that the students’ engagement was aimed at complementing the lawmaker’s dedication to encouraging the education of younger generations toward a brighter future.

Dukura explained that Dasuki’s commitment to education was unparalleled and it was aligned with global standards.

“In January 2024, the lawmaker purchased and distributed 450 UTME forms, coordinated and sponsored orientation and tutorial programmes for the candidates in the constituency.

“Dasuki also secured accreditation for a NECO centre at the Women’s Centre for Continuing Education in Tambuwal.

“Additionally, during the period under review, the lawmaker paid over N2.9 million in acceptance fees for 150 newly admitted students of Shehu Shagari University of Education and provided scholarships for 43 students at the state university,” he said.

Dukura added that Dasuki was set to disburse unprecedented financial grants to each of the 207 indigenous university students with a CGPA above 3.50.

He further stated that the lawmaker continues to impact his constituents across all sectors of human development.

“We are confident that with this strong start, our people will continue to enjoy the real dividends of democracy,” he emphasised.

In his remarks, Dasuki, represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Attahiru Danmadi, appreciated the gesture and encouraged more commitment to education.

He sought additional support and prayers from his people and assured them of more developmental activities to ease the community’s economic hardship.

Earlier, the group hosted a virtual symposium featuring the Special Advisor to the President on Print Media, Malam Abdul-Aziz Abdul-Aziz, Malam Marzuq Ungogo, a research fellow at the University of Edinburgh; and Dr Nafisa Zaki.

Speaking at the symposium, Abdul-Aziz praised the lawmaker for his sustained good character and commitment to supporting the society.

He emphasised the need for people to use social media responsibly, stating that these platforms were created to enhance better experiences and relationships.
