Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has said, he is ready to die or receive insults as a result of his choice of Pastor Umo Bassey Eno as his successor in 2023.
The governor’s remarks came barely three days after he imposed Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Eno as his successor come 2023.
Governor Emmanuel said this at the PDP Secretariat in Uyo on Wednesday during the annual New Year get -together for state party officers at all levels stating that, he meant well for the state by choosing Pastor Eno for the state.

He said the people of the state may not understand his action now but will certainly know it for good in the future.

He charged the party leaders to remain united to build a state where individuals would not overcome the state through their greed and selfish interest.

” I really mean well for the state in all my actions. You may not understand it, certainly you will understand it later. Do not sell out yourselves for peanuts but remain resolute and determined to resist every attempt to buy you over,” he said.

He said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the only party that can restore Nigeria to her glorious years when rice was N6000 a bag and petrol was N96 while general cost of living was cheap for all Nigerians.

The State Chairman of PDP, Mr. Aniekan Akpan said that the party was in support of the governor for every decision taken that is in the interest of the state.

“We pledge an unflinching support to you by the entire party structure towards the actualization of the completion agenda. The party through your support has stabilized. We commend your achievements. You have done a lot. You are a pride to PDP.”

Also speaking, former National Legal Adviser of the Party, Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem, assured the governor that his choice of Umo Eno as the preferred candidate to succeed him was well thought out, pledging that the party would work to ensure his victory at the polls.

Former State Chairman of the party, Obong Paul Ekpo declared support for the governor saying, “we will ensure that your completion agenda gets to a successful end.”
