Akwa Ibom State to get additional sport facility as Uyo Township Stadium nears completion

The Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Township Stadium remodeling project is near completion. The facility when completed will add to two already existing standard stadia in Akwa Ibom State.

As of the time of this report, laying of the artificial playing surface and installation of seats was ongoing at the Stadium located in the heart of Uyo.

The stadium has in its premises an Olympic-size swimming pool, halls for indoor sports like Judo, weightlifting, Taekwondo, Boxing, wrestling etc.

The Uyo Township Stadium will be a welcome addition to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo and the seven-month-old Eket Stadium.

Inaugurated in 2013, the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo has hosted many international football engagements.

The Eket Stadium on the other hand, was commissioned on September 30, 2022.
