All set for Abia State University Alumni Association, North America Convention 2022

All is set for the 2022 Convention of the North America chapter of the Abia State University Alumni Association (ASUAA), holding from today, Friday September 16 to Sunday, September 18, 2022.

Already, officials of the Association and delegates have started arriving for the program holding at the William Bolger Hotel and Conference Center 9600 Newbridge Dr Potomac MD, 20854.

A senior member of the ASUAA confirmed that they are already in Maryland, waiting for the opening session of the event, which will be a Meet & Greet/Arrival Party this evening, with Music by celebrated DJ Barack.

Saturday morning, September 17, will see Professor Bond Anyaehie and Dr. Emeka Boris Oji speaking at the Seminar/Meeting of the Association, before a Bus tour to DC later in the afternoon.

The Gala Night/Fundraising event of the program, on Saturday evening will feature Afrobeat dance troupe “Chii,” Olujazz the Saxophonist, and Comedian Dauda, while a Raffle Draw will spice up the evening, which is expected to be fun filled.

The Convention will also feature a Community Outreach on Sunday September 18, 2022, before Departures. Some members of the Association will spend some hours of the day cleaning up the C & O Canal National Historical Park (NHP) located in Potomac, 10 minutes’ drive from the venue of the Convention.

The weekend has started off early for the graduates of the Uturu, Abia State, Nigeria-based institution of higher learning living in North America. Those who have arrived have started the backslapping and long hugs of ‘long time no see’ and this process of reconnecting with each other, networking and socializing will continue throughout the program.

President of the Association, Mr. Okechukwu Uguru and other members of his executive, as well as other major stakeholders, who are already on ground are busy finetuning arrangements to ensure a flawless Convention, and Uguru has assured that this Convention will be a ‘like no other’ Convention for all participants.

The registration portal, opened for enrollment of old and new members of the Association, is still active, so as to aid seamless logistics arrangements.

The late Dr Sam Mbakwe, then Governor of old Imo State established Abia State University, Uturu, Abia State, Nigeria in 1981, and the now 41-year-old University is blessed with Alumni Associations spread across Nigeria and the Diaspora, made up of accomplished professionals.
