In his drive to revive Culture and Tourism in Enugu State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was a special guest to the state fund raising dinner for the 2015 Cultural and Tourism Fiesta which he earlier promised would be celebrated in a grand style.

The governor’s presence with his deputy, Hon Cecilia Ezeilo and other top government and PDP officials added colour and glamour to the event and consequently attracted men from all works of life to the event held in Enugu.

In an opening remark, the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Barr. Chika Smart Ogbe identified Culture and Tourism as a major potential revenue earner that can bail the country out of its dwindling revenue that has affected the economy negatively.

The commissioner observed that culture and tourism if properly harnessed would also promote peace and unity as it will foster inter-cultural understanding in the polity and by extension leads to economic expansion, employment creation and inflow of foreign direct investment.

According to Commissioner Ogbe, the fiesta in the state has contributed greatly in the boosting of the activities of the hospitality industries in the state as well increasing the internal generated revenue of the state.

The commissioner enumerated other benefits of culture and tourism as opportunities for the upcoming elected artists in the state to showcase themselves in a well packaged “Talent Hunt Competition” through massive media publicity projecting Enugu State.

Barr Ogbe added that Enugu State cultural and tourism fiesta has become an annual event in which the state sums up all its cultural and tourism endeavours into one mega entertainment package to expose its emerging tourism potentials.

The commissioner noted that this year’s fiesta billed for December is the fifth edition captioned “Welcome Gift Fiesta” offered to His Excellency Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for being the most populous elected governor of the state and by the good people of the state for their loyalty and support to this administration.

He appealed to all well meaning indigenes, corporate organizations and friends of Enugu State to support the fiesta to ensure sustainability of our rich cultural heritage

According to him, the fiesta would showcase activates like symposium, Nwada Igbo Pageant, fashion parades, street carnival and traditional wrestling.

Others are road block, praise night and children’s party among others.
