Another Friday bomb blast rocks Jimeta mosque in Adamawa; with 24 confirmed dead

A suspected suicide bomb attack at a newly-opened mosque in Jumbutu, one of the crowded settlements in Jimeta, off Yola, the Adamawa state capital, has claimed the lives of 24 Muslims with nearly 100 in critical condition.

The Friday afternoon occurred during the Juma’at Muslim prayers.

A source said that the bomb exploded in a newly launched mosque where hundreds of Muslim worshippers gathered for prayers.

The Federal Medical Centre and Specialist Hospital in the state capital, is presently treating those who sustained injuries in the blast, which officials describe as being in ‘critical condition.’

The incident follows an earlier attack by a male suicide bomber, Friday morning, inside a mosque in the Polo area of the state capital, which reportedly left over 10 Muslims dead, with nearly 20 injured.
