

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday said it would restore Abudu community in Orhiomwon Local Government Area back to what it used to be.
Gov. Godwin Obaseki, who is the candidate of the party for the forth coming governorship election in the state disclosed this during the party’s campaign rally in Abiencular ward one.
Obaseki said that before now, the Abudu community was the centre of education in the state with a college of education as well as the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in the community.
He disclosed that the status changed during the early stage of the country’s return to democracy and had remained like that till very recently when his administration decided to change the narrative.
He disclosed that this prompted the revival and renewal of the College of Education in the locality as well as the establishment of a model school in the area.
He also disclosed that his administration had recently approved a 50 hectares land in Iyeke-Orhiomwon community in the locality for oil palm fruit cultivation to three Asian firms for investment.
He, therefore, solicited the support and votes of the people in the ward for his second term, while assuring that he would continue to work for them.
The candidate also disclosed that he was working very hard to ensure that the people of the area begin to enjoy steady electricity supply, and further gave assurance to construct more roads, as his administration has completed the construction of the Abudu bridge.
Meanwhile, Mr. Peter Obi, Vice Presidential candidate of the party in the last general election who was on the campaign train of the governor also canvassed votes for the candidate.
Obi noted that the governor had already started working in the localiity with the construction of the Abudu bridge.
He also noted that the PDP candidate was doing the state proud with developmental strides and policies and urged all to support him for a second term.
Chief Dan Orbih, Chairman, PDP Edo governorship election campaign council said that the way forward in the state was PDP.
He gave assurance that Obaseki would do more than he had already done, when reelected for another four years in office.
Earlier, the candidate and the campaign team were at the palace of the Enogie of Evbobanosa, HRH, (Prof), Gregory Akenzua.
The team was received by the monarch himself and other Enigies from the localiity.
The monarch and the Enigies in council prayed for the candidate as well as for the state and for a peaceful election come Sept. 19.
