Former Minister of State for Works, Engineer Chris Ogiemwonyi, Monday urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to extend its war against corruption campaign to other Government Ministries, Department and Agencies, MDAs.

Engr. Ogiemwonyi, who served under the administration of ex President Goodluck Jonathan disclosed this following the staggering revelations in the handling of monies meant to purchase arms for the Nigerian military prosecuting the war against insurgency in the North-East.

Ogiemwonyi, who is seeking the governorship ticket to contest the 2016 governorship election in Edo state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, commended President Buhari for exposing the huge corruption in the arms deal involving the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki.

The Governorship aspirant, who advocated jail sentence for those found guilty in the ongoing war against corruption, noted that there must not be sacred cows in the fight against graft.

According to him “whoever is guilty should be dealt with. Secondly, the federal government should look into other MDAs, starting from petroleum and works ministries. EFCC should scrutinize what happened there in the last 7 years of Jonathan and they might even go beyond and look into other probe reports that have been hanging without sparing any sacred cow.

“By the time we start being selective in dealing with offenders then we will run into problems. If you are found guilty, the person should go to jail. I commend Mr President for Dasuki-gate; there would be more gates in Nigeria.

While allaying fears in the state that APC governorship primaries might be skewed in favour of the governor’s preferred candidate, Godwin Obaseki, Ogiemwonyi said that the fear is unfounded, adding that the national and state leaderships of the party have assured a level playing ground for all aspirants.
