
As part of their activities that marked the 2020 physicians medical week in the state, the Bauchi state Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) offered free medical outreach to over 1, 000 people in Duguri village, Alkaleri local government area of the state.
The chairman of the Association, Dr. Adamu Sambo who revealed this during the flag off of the exercise said that his association will conduct tests for malaria, blood pressure, sugar, hepatitis, general consultation and health education on burning health issues to the people of the area.
According to him, medical doctors have social responsibility to the society, one of which is offering free medical services to poor people in the country.
The Chairman said that the association has donated drugs to some patients and prescribed to others whose drugs are not available at the outreach.
The village head of Duguri, Alhaji Ibrahim Y. Baba ,in his response, expressed gratitude to the doctors for the gesture saying they brought succour to the downtrodden residents of the village.
Represented by Malam Idris Yunusa, he then called on government and other non governmental organizations to also carry out similar exercises in the area and thanked them for choosing the area for the free outreach.
