The All Progressives Congress(APC) in Tafawa Balewa local government of Bauchi state has suspended five of its party officials at the ward level over what it termed anti party activities and betrayal of the party.
The Treasurer of the party in the local government, Williams Wadni revealed this to journalists at a press conference which took place at the NUJ Press Centre in Bauchi explaining that the suspension of the party officials came after a resolution from an Executive Session of the party at the local government.
He alleged that the suspended party officials were not card carrying members of the party and gave their names as Murtala Kundum, Dayyibu Ibrahim, Aminu Danbaba, Mannir Yisin and Ali Danrimi.
The Treasurer accused the leadership of APC at the state level of being responsible for the division of loyalty among elected members of the party occupying government positions, which has paved way for rancour and was sowing the seeds of discord among party officials in the local government.
Mr Wandi added, “on the other hand, we have been called severally by the state government through one Mijinyawa Ardo, a suspended APC Chairman of Tafawa Balewa Local government, telling us not to associate with Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Senator Ali Wakili and Aminu Tukur, a Bauchi House of Assembly Member.
” Our refusal to comply with such unconstitutional directive from the government has resulted to these (accusations of) anti party activities, suspensions, illegal nominations and replacement of party officers at the ward and local government level”.
According to him the leadership of the party at the local government will not succumb to any intimidation or harassment from the State government aimed at dividing the party.
He then appealed to the national leadership of APC to intervene in the crisis rocking the party at the local government.
