Bauchi State Government has tightened security in the four Local Government Areas of Gamamwa, Zaki, Dambam and Darazo over security threats.
The Secretary to the State Government, Sabiu Baba revealed this while addressing newsmen at the end of an emergency Security Council Meeting which was held at the Government House, Bauchi, presided over by Governor Bala Mohammed.
According to him ,the meeting was as a result of influx of people from Geidam in Yobe state following the recent attacks by Boko Haram.
He said that security reports have it that some weapons were smuggled into the state but stated that they have been intercepted.
Sabiu Baba said, “security is the responsibility of all of us. We do not expect that the security agencies alone will carry this problems, so all hands must be on deck to fight insurgencies.”
He then called on traditional rules, religious leaders and youths to be vigilant and report any suspected persons to security agencies in the state.
The SSG said that all the security agencies have assured the government of their maximum cooperation in its attempt to have a joint patrol of the areas concerned.
“It will be expected that we will continue to profile whoever comes into the state. I can tell you that some people coming into the state, come in with weapons and it is the profiling that will help us stem that kind of problem.”
