 Bayelsa Dep. Gov. slumps, rushed to FMC Yenagoa, reportedly dies

 Senator Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo, the Bayelsa state Deputy Governor is reported to have passed on after collapsing in his office on Thursday, December 11, 2025 and being rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Yenagoa for urgent medical attention.
He was said to have been rushed into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital where frantic efforts were made to resuscitate him to no avail.
The state has since then been thrown into mourning with the seat of power in the state, Creek Haven, literally shut down.
Ewhrudjakpo, aged 60, came from being the Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District (from 2019 to 2020) in the 9th National Assembly to become the State’s Deputy Governor, and alongside his principal, Governor Douye Diri, won re-election earlier this year.
He is believed to have suffered from cardiac conditions.
