In continuation of its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, BUA Cement has donated drugs and other medical consumables to 16 hospitals in Sokoto State.
The drugs worth over 35 million naira were handed over to representatives of each of the 16 benefitting communities.
Addressing the gathering before formal distribution of the drugs and other medicaments, the Managing Director of BUA Cement company, Engineer Yusuf Binji, said they are very satisfied with the mutual beneficial relationship that exists between the company and all its host communities.
The Managing Director, who was represented by the Assistant Director, Administration and Corporate Services, Alhaji Sada Suleiman, said BUA has been assisting the immediate host communities in Wamakko Local government area of Sokoto and the neighboring States of Zamfara and Kebbi with scholarships and others as part of their CSR.
While noting that BUA deems it necessary to complement the efforts of host states towards improving the living conditions of their people, Sada said, “We are dedicated and committed to giving back to our host Communities to add value to our relationship, which is mutually beneficial.”
He stressed that it the company’s gesture is also in appreciation of the continued genuine support and cooperation of its host communities, and appealed that the drugs should be given free to patients who may come for them in the respective hospitals.
Continuing, Sada, who pointed out that BUA would soon commission seven additional completed solar boreholes across Sokoto State, added that these are in addition to the provision of full uniforms to pupils of primary five in schools in the host communities.
He further noted that BUA has also decided to increase the number of communities benefitting from the free drugs and medicaments to 16 and listed the clinics to receive the items as those in Bakin Kusu, Gidan Bailu, Kalambaina, Sabon garin Alu, Gidan Boka, Asare, Wamakko, Gwuiwa and Beni.
Others are Arkilla, Farfaru, Kaurar Kimba, Wajake, Gumbi and Mobile Police Barracks.
“The drugs are to be given out free and not to be sold. BUA in collaboration with the local government will put more eyes and monitoring mechanisms in place to ensure that the drugs are fully utilized and administered free of charge,” Sada stressed.
Earlier in his keynote address, BUA’s Director of HCSE, Engineer Ali Gumel thanked all the host communities on behalf of the company, saying they are very satisfied with the existing relationship.
Responding on behalf of the benefiting communities, Chairman of Wamakko Local Government, Alhaji Umar Ahmed Dundaye, represented by the Director, Health of the local government, Umar Sani Tureta thanked BUA company for their multiple human interest interventions.
Registering their appreciation on behalf of the benefiting communities, the District head of Wajake, Alhaji Muhammadu Mailato Gumbi said BUA Cement will continue to be appreciated by all the locals for its numerous interventions in the host communities over the years.
The District head listed some of BUA’s interventions in their domains to include healthcare, road networks, housing, educational scholarship, provision of portable drinking water and lots more.
