Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi has graduated 7,688 students with 34 students obtaining first class.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Saminu Abdulrahman Ibrahim, revealed this at the pre-convocation press briefing in Bauchi, saying that all arrangements have been concluded by the management of the University for the combined convocation of four sets of graduands scheduled for 22nd to 23rd of this month, January.
According to him, the sets include graduands for the years 2011/2012, 2012/2013, 2013/2014 and 2014/2015.
He added, “the total of 7688 is made up of 845 for diplomas, 5,554 for first degrees, 1219 for PGD/Masters and 64 for Ph.Ds. Of the 5554 first degree graduands, 32 obtained first class, 1203 second class upper, 2702 second class lower, 1481 third class and 136 got pass.”
The Vice Chancellor disclosed that the Visitor to the University , President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State and his colleagues from neighboring States and the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu are expected to grace the ceremony.
Others who are expected to attend are Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, Prof Julius Okojie, Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Prof Suleiman Bogoro, leadership and members of the National and State Assemblies, visiting vice chancellors and other invited dignitaries.
According to him, “Highlights of the occasion will witness the investiture of our new Chancellor who was appointed recently and this will be the first convocation he is attending.
“The new Chancellor is Oba (Dr.) Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladedanmi III, Ewi of Ado-Ekiti and Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Obas. During the occasion, he will also be honored with an honorary Doctorate Degree of Doctor of Science honois Cauda. There also be exhibition of our various breakthroughs at the Convocation ground”.
