Nigerian football star, Mfon Udoh, has shared his excitement as the Super Eagles return to his hometown, Uyo, for their next 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Zimbabwe.

The Super Eagles picked up their first win in the qualifiers with a 2-0 victory over Rwanda on Friday night in Kigali. Victor Osimhen scored both goals – one in the 10th minute and another just before half-time – to secure the much-needed three points for Nigeria.

Now back in Uyo, the Super Eagles are preparing to host Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. The match will kick off at 5 p.m.

Mfon Udoh, who still holds the record for the highest number of goals in a single Nigeria Premier Football League season, believes the team will give fans in Uyo something to cheer about. Speaking to Nsikakabasi Akpan, the Uyo-born striker said he is confident of another great performance.

“I was privileged to watch the highlights of our last game in Rwanda,” Udoh said. “It was a fantastic game, and the Super Eagles did really well. I commend their effort.

“Our next game is even going to be better, and I expect a mouth-watering scoreline. My prediction is 3-1 in favour of the Eagles,” he added.

Udoh, who scored 41 goals across all competitions between 2012 and 2014 and was the top scorer in the 2016 CAF Champions League, said he is proud to see the Super Eagles play in his city. He also made his debut for Nigeria in 2014 and remains one of the country’s top strikers.

The Super Eagles will be hoping to make it two wins in a row as they continue their quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
