Car crash: Lagos, Ogun governments assure best medicare for Anthony Joshua

The governments of Ogun and Lagos states have given assurance that Anthony Joshua, the British-Nigerian two-time unified world heavyweight boxing champion, who was involved in a road traffic accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, will, alongside another survivor of the crash receive the best medical care possible.
A joint statement by Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser, Information, Ogun State and Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner, Information, Lagos State, which gave the assurance, noted that immediately after the accident, Joshua and another occupant of the car in which they were travelling “were immediately evacuated to a specialised facility in Lagos.
“Doctors have conducted several clinical assessments and have confirmed that both patients are stable and do not require any emergency interventions at this time.
“A comprehensive medical team has since been convened and will continue to monitor them closely.
“Anthony Joshua has since been relating well with his family.”
The statement confirmed that the vehicle conveying the boxing star and three other persons, “ran into a stationery truck resulting in 2 fatalities.”
“We sympathise with the families of those involved in the accident, and pray that God will grant them the strength to go through this difficult time,” the two governments said, stressing that they “have also commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.”
The statement appreciated the public’s concern, but asked “for privacy for Anthony Joshua and his family during this time.”
