Imo indigenes in New Jersey, New York, USA, celebrate Emeka Ihedioha’s victory in Imo Governorship election







Leading personalities from Imo State in New Jersey, United States of America came together, Sunday, to celebrate the electoral victory of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the governorship election, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
Hon. Ihedioha, a former Deputy Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives beat other contestants, including the son-in-law of outgoing Governor Rochas Okorocha, Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance, Senator Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA and former Governor, Ikedi Ohakim of Accord Party.
It was an exciting time for the Imo State Stakeholders as they sang and danced and ate and drank in celebration of what is being considered the liberation of Imo State from the threat of a monarchical system of government.
The party took place at the Aso Rock Center in East Orange and those who gathered to toast to a well deserved victory were those who had played significant roles in the electoral triumph, including the organization of the visit of the then candidate to some cities in the US as part of the mobilization of support for his election.
Among the high flyers that were part of the celebration are Hon. Ugo Nwokoro (Deputy Mayor, City of Newark, New Jersey), Chief Dr Iwuozo Obilor, Sir Clem Eze and Hon. Uche Bony-life Ndu, the Chief Convener, Ihedioha Diaspora Think –tank Support Group.
It is believed that the celebration will continue, not only in New Jersey but in other major cities of the US as the count-down to the swearing in of Ihedioha, the current Governor-Elect of Imo State, continues.
