A prominent Imo State, Nigeria politician, Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu, has called on the people of Okigwe zone and Imo state in general to religiously remain focused on the containment and prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic by strictly adhering to every precautionary measures released by the World Health Organisation, WHO, and Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
Chief Okewulonu, Ikeoha worldwide, of Imo North (Okigwe zone) extraction, who has been under tremendous pressure to run for the Imo North Senatorial by-election, stressed that what really matters now is how to contain and eliminate this deadly virus which has become a global challenge to our economic and social wellbeing. He added that elections cannot hold in any part of the world including Nigeria until this battle is won.
Ikeoha prayed that God will never allow any soul from Imo North to be lost to COVID-19 but warned that people must not get careless. He regretted that some people in the villages are not taking COVID-19 seriously and advised them to wash their hands frequently, wear masks when necessary, avoid traditional shaking of hands for now, embrace social distancing and quickly call for help if they feel sick.
Chief Okewulonu also expressed optimism that the world will soon overcome this challenge.
