Bayelsa Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson has provided the sum of N1million to the leadership of the northern community in the state to take the corpses of the slain Miyetti Allah chairman, Alhaji Jibril Abdulkarim and his three aides back home for burial.

An insider within the northern community in the state told our Correspondent that as the news of the killing of Alhaji Abdulkarim broke out; some people close to him mobilized to embark on protest and start burning tyres.

He, however, said the prompt intervention of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Non Indigenes from the North, Alhaji Sani Yakubu, calmed frayed nerves as he appealed to the people not to disturb the peace of the state since government was not responsible for the death of the renowned cattle dealer.

“So when he came, he tried to rally round with the SA on Security, SSS people and other security men. Enough security was mobilized to that area.

“He now spoke to the people telling them that there is no need to cause mayhem. So right from there they went to Government House to complain to the governor. The governor appealed to them to calm down, assuring them that the perpetrators would be fished out and he gave them one million naira to take the corpses of the victims back to the north for burial. The army also gave them N100,000, and the police, Mopol N100,000”, the source narrated.

It would be recalled that Bayelsa Commissioner of Police, Mr. Asuquo Amba, had said that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the killing of the Miyetti Allah leader.

Asuquo, who disclosed this in a telephone interview, said the suspects were being profiled while their telephone communications were also being scrutinized.

“We have so far taken three suspects into custody and we are profiling them and their communications. We are looking at their phone communications, from facts before us it is an assassination done on close range and the people must have been known to them,” Amba said

“We are equally looking at the leadership issues and election of the Fulanis. I am hopeful with the clues we have, we are following the clues and I am hopeful we shall be able to have a breakthrough,” he said.
