Police Command takes Yuletide celebration to Edo IDP camp, donates food items

Benin, Dec. 31, 2021
The Police Command in Edo on Friday took the Yuletide celebration to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Uhorgua, in Ovia North East Local Government area.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr. Phillip Ogbadu, state Commissioner of Police, led other top management team of the command to the camp where they donated various food items to the IDPS.
Ogbadu, in his remarks before presenting the items, said that they were in the camp in the spirit of the Yuletide to identify with the IDPs.
He admonished the IDPs not to see themselves as unworthy Nigerians, because God is still involved in their affairs. “Don’t be worried. Don’t see yourselves as unworthy or limited, because even if the society has written you off, God has not, because he is still involved in your affairs. History cannot be changed, but you can change your future. You can be better people, if you yield to the training impacted on you by the management of the camp. History has taught us that people raised in difficult environments make it better in life than those raised with silver spoons,” he said.
The CP also admonished the management of the camp not to fail in the course of carrying out their responsibilities to the IDPs. He noted that God was very interested in the IDPs in the camp and as such the management’s efforts would not be in vain.
According to him, only those with vision can catch the vision to serve here. “See our coming here today also as part of needs assessment from us, because we didn’t understand the need and enormous responsibility of this place until we got here. The number here can make for an army of personnel,” he stressed.
Appreciating the CP and his team on behalf of the camp management, Pastor Evelyn Omigie described the CP’s visit as timely, adding that the team has put smiles on the faces of the IDPs.
NAN also reports that earlier, the command held a Thanksgiving service to thank God for a successful 2021.
Ogbadu had during the thanksgiving attributed all achievements and successes recorded during the year to God.
According to him, in spite of the many challenges in the year, “God remained faithful and has kept us to see today”.
