Dennis UdomaThe Managing Director of Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Nsima Ekere, has described the election of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) as a defining moment that would strengthen the party, unite and produce victory for APC in 2019 general elections.
Ekere, in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Uyo on Tuesday expressed optimism that, with less than eight months to the beginning of the 2019 elections activities, Oshiomhole would bring his wealth of experience and ingenuity in governance, politics and organization to bear in his new assignment as the national Chairman of the party.
He charged the new leadership to work closely with President Muhammadu Buhari, party officers, stakeholders and other faithful to consolidate on the gains of his predecessor, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, and bring prosperity to the party at different levels, as well as make a bigger win for APC in the 2019 elections more than the 2015 elections.
The NDDC boss, who also felicitated with other APC new National Executive Committee members, including the South-South Women Leader, Mrs. Rachel Akpabio, re-election for a second term, however explained that, Akwa Ibom State retained the zonal women leadership position because the party decided to maintain the existing zoning arrangement from 2014 during the just concluded party convention in Abuja.
He congratulated all APC members on the successful conduct of the national convention saying that, the successful conduct of the exercise ran contrary to the expectations of detractors of APC, who had predicted the party’s implosion.
The NDDC boss therefore, called on the people of the nine Niger-Delta states to support Buhari and the APC in the 2019 elections to enjoy more democracy dividends in their domains.
