El-Kanemi Warriors rewarded with N35.2 million by Borno Government for Federation Cup win

El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club has been honored with N35.2 million from the Borno State Government following their historic victory in the 2024 President Federation Cup.

The team made history by defeating Abia Warriors 2-0 in the final, ending a 32-year wait for the prestigious trophy to return to Borno.

The cash reward was presented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijjani, on behalf of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, during a ceremony at the SSG’s office. Each player received a stipend of N1 million as a token of appreciation for their dedication and hard work.

In addition to the state government’s support, El-Kanemi Warriors also received a N50 million cash prize for their Federation Cup triumph.

Hon. Sainna Buba, the Commissioner of Sports, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Zulum for the financial support and recommended Babagana Kalli for the position of Special Adviser on Sports, highlighting Kalli’s extensive experience in the field.

Technical Adviser of the club, Aliyu Zubairu, praised the state government for its ongoing commitment to enhancing sports in Borno and urged for the prompt release of funds to ensure the team’s smooth travel for matches across the country.
