Emmanuel Amuneke has asked to be the coach of Egyptian Premier League side, Zamalek according to club’s president, Mortada Mansour.
The north African side’s current coach Mohamed Helmi, who joined only a few weeks ago, has been under pressure after recently losing the Cairo derby 2-0 to arch rivals Al Ahly.
And adding to a list that already features former Wadi Degla coach Patrice Carteron, Romania’s Marius Sumudica and Portuguese Jose Romao, the club’s top personnel disclosed that the 46-year-old Amuneke has shown interest to lead his former team.
“Amuneke contacted us officially asking to take charge of the team, but we are still discussing the matter,” Mansour told ON Sport .
The former Barcelona winger featured – in 72 appearances scoring 26 times – for the Royal Club during his illustrious playing career leading them to two domestic titles.
