The Lagos State Government has set up a committee to bring up a White Paper on the report of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for Victims of SARS Related Abuses and Other Matters.
This, according to a statement by Gbenga Omotoso, the State’s Commissioner for Information & Strategy, is in accordance with the provisions of the Tribunal of Inquiry Law 2015.
Omotosho, who said that the government had noted the various reactions and arguments in the public space that have followed the submission of the report, stressed that there is need for restraint so that “the good intentions of the government in setting up this Panel, which was well encouraged to do its job – a fact that was acknowledged by the Panel,” would not be nullified.
