Ethiopian Airlines shines at 2023 African Day Celebration in New York

 

Foremost African carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, stole the show at the 2023 African Day Celebration held in New York, United States of America (USA), on Thursday, May 25, 2023.

Organized by the African Consuls General Group in New York, the event had in attendance the Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Ms. Amina Mohammed, the Permanent Observer of the African Union to the United Nations, Ambassador Fatima Kyari Mohammed and Consuls General of African nations in New York, led by Ambassador El Hadji Ndao, Consul General of Senegal in New York.

Other Diplomats, especially those at the United Nations, Africans and African Americans, as well as other friends of the continent also graced the colorful program which witnessed a display of the different flags of the Continent.

The event, which featured the official raising of the flag of the African Union, commemorated the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the AU. The Organisation of African Union (OAU), the forerunner of the AU, was formed in May 1963 by 32 African Heads of Government in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia and headquarters of the Continental body.

Ethiopian Airlines, as part of the program, organized an exciting raffle draw and the lucky ticket winner was Mr. Taher M. T. Elsonni, the Permanent Representative of Libya to the United Nations!

The Envoy’s daughter collected the prize on his behalf to applause.!

Ethiopian Airlines has been serving the continent diligently and efficiently for a long time and its staff turned out in their beautiful uniforms for the memorable occasion.
