Ex-President Jonathan to commission 4th longest bride in Nigeria on Monday

Former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, will on Monday, January 16, commission the Etebi-Enwang Road and the Afi-Uko Nteghe Bridge, in Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Constructed by the Governor Udom Emmanuel led Akwa Ibom State Government, the bridge with a total length of 1,150m is considered the fourth longest in Nigeria.

The Etebi-Enwang road and Efi-Uko Nteghe bridge projects will open up socio-economic activities in their host communities after over 11-years of stalled progress in the area.

Indigenes of the area expressed delight over the completion of the projects after years of abandonment as the construction dragged on.

“I am so happy today. I just had a smooth ride across the bridge, and it is answer to our prayers because we have been cut off from the other communities for such a long time, ” a health worker, Victor John said.

Patience Bassey took a walk down memory lane to narrate how the projects were the subject of endless political campaign promises before the decision of the present administration to ensure that it is delivered for use.

She said “Over the last two decades, different candidates came to us promising to work on this very important project. We are grateful to Governor Udom Emmanuel who promised to work on this project and delivered it for use. It is a promise fulfilled and so we are very happy. ”

Former President Jonathan will, again, be commissioning a project in Akwa Ibom State, his last being during his visit to the state in 2022 during the state’s anniversary.
