As part of the 56th Session of the United Nations (UN) Commission on Population and Development which started on April 10 and ends tomorrow, April 14, 2023, a Side Event under the theme “Keeping Girls in School in the Context of Climate Fragility: Challenges and Impact on Sustainable Development,” is holding tomorrow, Friday, April 14, 2023, at the UN Headquarters in New York, United States of America (USA).
The highly anticipated event, which is being organised by Cameroon and UNFPA, and will be Co-chaired by The Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, Cameroon and The Director of the Technical Division, UNFPA, will hold in Room CR5 at the UN Headquarters.
The program is for 8:15 am – 9:35 am (EDT/01:15 pm – 02:40 pm (WAT).
To be Moderated by Prof. Parfait Eloundou-Enyegue/Dr. Joannie Bewa, the Speakers at the event are Dr. Julitta Onabanjo, Director, Technical Division UNFPA, Prof. Marie-Therese Abena Ondoa, Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Family, Cameroon and Dr. Justin Koffi, The Resident Representative to the UNFPA, Cameroon and Sao Tome & Principe.
Panelists for Session 1 which is on “Keeping Girls in School in a Context of Fragility: Challenges, Opportunities and Impact for Achieving the NDS30 and SDGs” are Mr. Alioum Abdoulaye, Director, Division of Demographic Analyses and Migrations, Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Cameroon and Prof. Fabien Nkot, Secretary General, Ministry of Secondary Education, Cameroon.
The Panelists for Session 2 on “Keeping Girls in School: National and Regional Experiences and Perspectives for Response are Mrs. Fadimatou Iyawa Ousmanou, President of the National Youth Council, Cameroon, Mrs. Aissa Doumara, ALVF Far North, Cameroon and Mr. Paul Coustere, Regional Director UNESCO Cameroon.
