A father and son who allegedly impregnated a 13-year-old relative are said to be enmeshed in a feud over the paternity of the as yet unborn baby.
The father Kabiru Oke and his son Faruq Oke, who are currently remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Prison, were said to have engaged in verbal attacks following their alleged rape of the victim that resulted in her becoming pregnant.
Kabiru Oke is brother in-law to the mother of the victim, Global Patriot Newspapers, GPNews, learnt.
It was gathered that Faruq, 19, who was angry with his father, expressed shock that he was secretly sleeping with the victim, blaming him for the mess in which they found themselves.
He said the situation would not have been as bad as it is if his father had not indulged in the illicit affair.
According to reports, while Kabiru, 44, claimed to be responsible for the pregnancy, his son however refuted the claim, insisting that he is the one who impregnated the victim.
It was learnt that the disagreement between the duo led to a heated argument in the prison and officials were compelled to separate them in order to avoid fisticuffs.
“Both father and son almost fought today because of disagreement over who is responsible for the pregnancy of the girl,” an official of the prison, who did not want his name mentioned, told our Correspondent.
“If not for our quick intervention, they would have resorted to fighting,” he added.
Both father and son are still standing trial for their alleged crime.
