The Federal University of Agriculture Zuru, (FUAZ), in Kebbi state has begun a 2-week warning strike following non implementation of its demands earlier stated in an ultimatum it gave to the university management.
Confirming the strike action, FUAZ’s Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Comrade Danbauchi Ishaq Sanchi said the 2-week warning strike commenced from midnight of August 18, 2026.
A statement signed by Danbauchi said the action is coming: “After the expiration of the 21 days ultimatum issued by the Congress of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University of Agriculture Zuru (FUAZ) branch to the University Council over the non-implementation of the FGN-ASUU Signed Agreement, 2025.”
According to him, regrettably, as at Tuesday, August 18, 2026, “we are yet to receive any positive response of concrete action from the University Council towards addressing the issues raised in the agreement.”
Decrying the lack of positive response from those expected to do so, FAUZ-ASUU submitted their resolution to embark on the warning strike, noting that all lectures and tutorials, examinations and continuous assessments, supervision of projects and theses, as well as all Senate and Faculty Board meetings and all other academic-related enhancements have been put on hold.
Continuing, Danbauchi said, “We sincerely regret the inconveniences this action may cause, but we wish to emphasis that this decision was not taken lightly.
“It has become imperative in order to draw the Council’s urgent attention to the lingering unresolved issue that has continued to undermine the welfare of our members and the smooth running of academic programmes in this University.”
