Fireworks as America celebrates 245th independence anniversary; Buhari congratulates Biden

The skies of the United States of America (US) came alive with captivating fireworks, Sunday July 4th night, as the greatest democracy in the world celebrated its 245th Independence Day Anniversary.
Cities and individuals put up spectacular sights and sounds, with crowds gathering to view the scenic sights.
This year’s celebration of America’s Independence Day, commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the United States on July 4, 1776 was far different from last year’s.
At this time last year most of America and elsewhere in the world was on lockdown occasioned by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. People were hunkering down, hospitals were overflowing with the sick and casualties were mounting.
But with conditions now significantly improved and many already vaccinated, most people in the US could gather at parks, enjoy the fireworks, have family reunions, picnics, barbecues etc for the iconic celebration.
From Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari sent congratulations to President Joe Biden, the government and people of America on the auspicious occasion.
In a statement in Abuja by his Spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, on Sunday, Buhari noted with delight how the Biden-led administration had been working earnestly to overcome some of the country’s challenges, including racism and the COVID-19 pandemic that has inflicted on the country a quarter of the global fatalities.
He also noted with interest how the Biden-led administration had been making progress in its efforts at improving US-Africa ties and interactions for the betterment of the continent.
He expressed confidence that given the shared values of democracy, rule of law and inclusive prosperity, the strategic partnership and engagements between Nigeria and USA would continue to grow for the mutual benefits of the two countries and their peoples.
