Arsenal’s Champions League dream ends after defeat to PSG

Arsenal’s hopes of reaching the Champions League final came to an end after a 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in a dramatic match at Parc des Princes.

The Gunners were trying to come back from a 1-0 loss in the first leg, but were once again stopped by PSG’s brilliant goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Italian shot-stopper, who was superb in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium, repeated his heroics with several fantastic saves. He denied Gabriel Martinelli early on and then made an even better save from Martin Ødegaard’s powerful low shot.

Despite Arsenal’s strong start, PSG took the lead after 27 minutes. Fabian Ruiz picked up a loose ball from Thomas Partey’s clearance and fired in a deflected shot from 20 yards that beat David Raya.

The match continued at a high pace, with Donnarumma making another big save to stop Bukayo Saka. Arsenal then had some luck when Raya saved a weak penalty from Vitinha after young Myles Lewis-Skelly was judged to have handled the ball.

PSG got their second goal in the 72nd minute after Partey lost the ball, allowing Achraf Hakimi to turn and score.

Saka did manage to score four minutes later with a smart angled finish, but he later missed a golden chance, shooting over an open goal.

It wasn’t enough for Arsenal, and PSG will now face Inter Milan in the Champions League final in Munich.
