FUTO Vice Chancellor, Professor Nnenna Oti, honoured

His Grace, Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUTO), Owerri, Imo State, Professor Nnenna Oti, has been honoured with the Rule of Law Award by the Canon Law Society of Nigeria (CLSN) at its 37th Annual Convention held in Imo State, Nigeria recently.

A highly respected Professor of Soil Science and Environmental Conservation, Professor Oti, the first female substantive Vice Chancellor of FUTO, was hailed globally for her principled and resolute stand as the Returning Officer during the last Governorship election in Abia State.

The Award, presented to her on behalf of the CLSN, by The Most Rev. Dr. Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri and President, Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, on October 22, 2025, was in recognition of  her “distinguished service to the Church.”

The Convention had as its theme, “Alternative Dispute Resolution in the Church in Nigeria,” and was attended by many of the members of the Society from across the country.
