According to Habu Muazu, who spoke to journalists in a chat in Gombe, it was only by so doing that the will of the electorate would be fully respected and the outcome favourable to the party.
He also called on the leaders of the party as well as those seeking elective positions to sustain their sensitization campaign on the need for their followers to shun violence before, during and after the elections.
Alhaji Habu, a former big wig of the PDP who recently defected to APC, said the election must not to be seen as a do or die affair. He called on politicians to abide by the rules and regulations of the electoral process.
He advised the state Independent Electoral Commission to do the right thing by conducting free, fair and credible elections and also charged the people of Gombe and other eligible voters to resist any attempt to manipulate the elections.
“We are sensitizing our members on the need to protect their votes peacefully and disgrace those that are planning to manipulate the election,” he emphasized.
He urged the electorate to make sure they stay behind to protect their votes after casting their ballots saying, the law expects such voters to stay behind but to conduct themselves in an orderly manner.
Citing the 2015 general elections, Habu Muazu said, it is a clear testimony that the electorates are now more educated and aware of electoral issues making it difficult for some disgruntled elements to manipulate election results.
He also called on the security agencies to provide a level-playing ground for the peaceful conduct of the elections.
