Gombe LG polls: PCRC sensitize public… Appeals for close monitoring of votes

Kabiru Ibn Mohammed, PCRC Chairman, Gombe State

William Attah, Gombe

Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Gombe State, Kabiru Ibn Mohammed, has called on the people of the State to closely monitor their votes during the Local Government Elections scheduled to hold on Saturday.

He stated this during a one day sensitization workshop organized for stakeholders that included security agents, traditional rulers, religious leaders, political parties among many other groups.

He said, there should be no need for skepticism since the the State Electoral body (GOSIEC) has assured of conducting a free, fair and credible election.

According to him, “I have been following the GOSIEC Chairman and he has been assuring of a credible election. The Governor has also assured and that is why we are out to sensitize the people that they should closely monitor their votes, it should count, this is our stand”.

He said, another major concern is that the elections must be peaceful adding that the sensitization was to call the attention of the people to conduct themselves peacefully.

“It is essential for people to understand the position of peace in their lives, without it, nothing moves. The PCRC is serving as a bridge between the citizens and the Police.

” Since we are approaching an important election that involves the grassroots, we felt it necessary to gather people from different walks of life to witness the one day sensitization towards attaining peaceful conduct of the elections

“This is a preamble to the peace accord and we have volunteered and are ready to move the country forward. Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), the epicentre of political parties in Nigeria is fully represented here”, he stated.
