Some top All Progressives Congress (APC) State officials in Gombe have written to Police authorities seeking protection against supporters of Senator Danjuma Goje after they were attacked and injured severely.
In a letter addressed to the Gombe State Police Commissioner, a copy of which was made available by their lawyer, LA Haruna and Co, the complainants, Alhaji Sabo Ibrahim Kashere, the State Assistant Publicity Secretary of APC and Garba S Fada, the Deputy Chairman of the APC in Akko Local Government Area, all residents of Kashere town in Akko LGA, alleged a serious threat to their lives.
According to them, Mohammed Isa Tolba, Umaru Yakubu, Dahiru Ibrahim Chairman, Hamza Wakili, Gamma Bala, Sallau Hashimu, Alhassan West, Abdulwahab Uba and Kawule Bobobo conspired within themselves around 4:30pm on Sunday 29th March, 2020 carrying cutlasses, matchets, sticks and other dangerous weapons and attacked Ibrahim Sabo in front of his friend’s shop causing them severe injuries.
They said, if not for the intervention of onlookers, it would have been a different story by now.
They alleged that the gang latter proceeded to the house of Garba S Fada chanting slogans and songs that they will deal with anybody who is not in support of Senator Danjuma Goje’s aspiration and upon hearing this, Garba Fada scampered for his life.
The complainants’ letter which was also copied to the Inspector-General (IG) of Police, AIG Zone 3 Yola, DG SSS, and the Gombe State Director of the SSS also reported that there are sinister efforts and plans by the gang to wreck havoc not only on them but to constitute security threat to the people and residents of Kashere town and environs.
The letter reads further, “we wish to bring to your notice that recently, the supporters of Senator Danjuma Goje have unleashed a social media campaign and granted interviews to media houses releasing series of videos threatening fire and brimstone to deal with anybody who does not support the political activities or aspirations of Senator Danjuma Goje.
“These recent apprehension and desperation on the part of Goje’s supporters is becoming worrisome and heating up the political space, especially in Akko LGA.
“In the face of this danger, our clients are compelled to request that you use your good office to conduct investigation into this matter with a view to bring the perpetrators to book and caution against such activities”, the letter reads.
It will be recalled that recently, Senator Goje announced during a large political gathering that he has retired from elective politics but recent events have shown that he may be taking his words back or trying to foist his loyalist on the people in future elections.
