Bauchi state Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has called on Christians in the country to buy seats to the Holy Land of Israel for pilgrimage.

The governor gave the advise when the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) Reverend Yakubu Pam paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House Bauchi on Monday.

Mohammad said that Christians should not always rely on government’s sponsorship for the pilgrimage noting that sponsoring themselves would make the Christian’s Pilgrims Commission strong and more respectful.

He called on wealthy Christians in the country to assist the less privileged ones to enable them perform the annual pilgrimage to earn God’s blessings.

The governor requested that the Bauchi international airport, should be used as departure point for all Nigerian christian pilgrims this year.

In his address, Reverend Pam said that they are in Bauchi for a sensitization tour in preparation for this year’s pilgrimage to the holy land that will take place in December 2020.

Pam who doubles as chairman Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) of northern Nigeria said due to the COVID 19 pandemic that affected the whole world, this year’s pilgrims from Nigeria would perform the exercise in December this year.

He commended the Governor for sponsoring 100 Christians from the state to participate in this year’s pilgrimage in Israel.

Speaking on agricultural, he advised federal and state governments to emulate Israel in the area of farming in order to boost the nation’s economy.

According to him, Israel is known globally for commercial and mechanized agriculture which serves as a major source of revenue for the country.

He noted that Nigeria too is endowed with huge fertile land that should be harnessed to revitalize and diversify its economy.
