Gov. Emmanuel (R) and Obong Umana during the visit

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, on Wednesday September 14, played host to the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Obong Umana Okon Umana, who was on a courtesy visit at Government House, Uyo.

Obong Umana was accompanied by Minister of State, Niger Delta Affairs, Sharon Ikeazor, Sole Administrator, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Effiong Akwa, among other principal officers in the Niger Delta ministry.

Umana was recently appointed head of the Ministry of Niger Delta by President Muhammadu Buhari in place of Senator Godswill Akpabio who had resigned the position to contest the APC Presidential Primaries.

Details of the discussion between the Governor and the Obong Umana-led team remain sealed as both parties were only comfortable sharing images of the meeting via different social media platforms as of the time of this report.

Governor Udom Emmanuel and Obong Umana Okon Umana were opponents in the 2015 Governorship election which Emmanuel won on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Obong Umana since losing that election has remained in the All Progressives Congress (APC) where he remained a major stakeholder until his appointment as Minister.
