Gov. Eno hosts Water Resources Minister in Uyo, Reaffirms commitment to clean water, sanitation

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving access to clean water and sanitation in the state.

The Governor made this statement on Thursday, January 30, 2025, after hosting the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, in Uyo on Wednesday.

The Minister visited Akwa Ibom ahead of the 31st Regular Meeting of the National Council on Water Resources and Sanitation. During the visit, Governor Eno highlighted his administration’s proactive steps in tackling water and sanitation challenges, including the establishment of a dedicated Ministry for Water Resources.

In a statement shared on his social media handle, Governor Eno said:
“Yesterday, I welcomed Prof. Joseph Utsev, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, and his team to Akwa Ibom State ahead of the 31st Regular Meeting of the National Council on Water Resources and Sanitation.

“Water and sanitation are essential to our development, which is why, upon assuming office, I created a dedicated Ministry for Water Resources to drive progress in this critical sector. I assured the Minister that our administration would collaborate with the federal government to implement projects that would improve access to clean water and sanitation for our people.

“Akwa Ibom is committed to sustainable growth, and we will continue to embrace opportunities that enhance public health and well-being.”

The Governor’s remarks underline his administration’s resolve to work with the federal government in ensuring that Akwa Ibom residents benefit from improved water and sanitation infrastructure.
