People from all parts of Enugu State and beyond trooped into Orba community in Udenu LGA of Enugyu State, the country home of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State to celebrate the 2016 cross-over night with the state chief executive and his family.

It was a beehive of activities, carol of nine lessons, praise songs, gospel artists performing, choirs from different denominations as well as a mass service. It was really a carnival of prayer and thanksgiving, groups from all works of life gathered at the community for prayer and supplication to God to usher in the new year. People defied the chronic harsh weather of harmattan season to offer their prayers and join in presenting the state before God.

In a homily titled “ God is calling and men’s response” Rev. Fr. John Amadi of Nsukka diocese called on Christians to emulate the selfless life of Christ for a better society.

Father Amadi applauded the selfless service of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi whom he said had achieved giant strides within a short period in the office, especially his decision to complete the abandoned state International Conference Center.

He added that the center was designed in line with the Ibadan Arts Theatre for the Promotion of arts and culture of the country.

The Clergyman noted that if the center is completed by Ugwuanyi he would have left his footprints in the sands of time for posterity.

Also in a remark, Rev. Father Emma Agboke of the same Diocese commended Governor Ugwuanyi in his effort to develop the state.the clergy enjoined Governor Ugwuanyi to ensure even development of the state inspite of the lean resources occasioned by the economic melt down, urging him to maintain his inward looking approach to forge ahead.

Governor Ugwuanyi read the first lesson in the service.

The event was attended by who is who in Enugu State, including the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, Senator Chuka Utazi, the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Hon. Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, Ambassadors and Captains of Industry.

The wife of the Governor thereafter visited the first born baby of the year, little master Somtochukwu Molokwu at Ntasi Obi Ndi Non’afufu in Enugu, who was born at 12:11 am on new year day, by Mrs Augustian Molokwu, a civil servant from Anambra State.

She equally visited the second born baby, Master Daberechukwu Okafor who was delivered at 04:30am the same day at Annunciation Hospital, Enugu by Mrs. Gift Okafor from Uzouwani LGA of Enugu State.

Mrs. Ugwuanyi also visited the third born baby of the year, Master Goodluck Omeh, who was delivered at 6:00am by Mrs. Peace Omeh, at Bishop Shanaham Hospital, Nsukka. She hails from Nsukka LGA.

Mrs. Ugwuanyi wished the babies well and urged their mothers to nurture them in the fear of God. She presented gift items and cash to them.
