The coalition for the Total Transformation of Esanland (CTTE) has threatened to mobilise the people of Edo central senatorial district against the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Thomas Ayemere and made available to newsmen in Benin.
The statement said if the Speakership position in the State House of Assembly was not returned to Esan central senatorial district, Esan people would work against the APC in the upcoming governorship election
According to the group, the present arrangement in the state and the Edo house of assembly negates the principles of fairness, equity and justice.
The statement further said the group frowned at a situation where a senatorial district was currently occupying the position of the deputy governor and the speaker while the Edo central was left with nothing.
According to the statement, going into the election with this arrangement in the state would be disastrous adding that it portrays marginalisation of the senatorial district.
The statement said the group has vowed to resist any attempt to further marginalise the Esan people by any political party.
“We promise to support any of the APC legislators who has the interest of Edo Central senatorial district at heart.
“The issue of being a first time legislator in the house should not arise as section two of the Edo house of assembly rules stipulates that for a member to be a speaker or deputy speaker, he must have legislative experience.
“A requirement that both Mr Justin Okonoboh, the member representing APC Igueben and Festus Edughele, member representing APC Esan South East constituencies have owing to their robust legislative activities,” the statement said.
