Gunmen abduct Engineer; Reverend Father escapes death in Bayelsa

The Police in Bayelsa state has confirmed the abduction of an Engineer, Dunkan Eke, by unknown gunmen at Igede Community in Kolukuma / Opokuma local government Area of the state.

The gunmen also shot and injured one Reverend Father, Ezekiel Obate, during the raid.

No suspect has been arrested as the gunmen were said to have escaped to an unknown destination with their victim, leaving the Reverend Father bleeding uncontrollably.

Police said the engineer was abducted on 24 January, 2016, at about 1240hrs after heavy shooting to scare away passersby.

The command in a statement by its spokesman, Asinim Butswat, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said the injured clergyman is responding to treatment at a clinic in Polaku.

He said efforts have been intensified to rescue the kidnapped engineer and arrest his abductors.
