
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has, again, promised to leave the State better than he met it when he was elected to office as the helmsman in 2015.
Gov. Emmanuel, who spoke in Uyo, the state’s capital, Wednesday January 4, 2023, while addressing members and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the new year converge of the party, insisted that he will not relent in delivering good governance to the people of the state.
He said he will continue to work hard to better the lives of the people and make the state a better place for all even till his last day on the seat as governor of the state.
The Governor, who also spoke on the state of the nation, expressed confidence that all the PDP candidates for different elective positions in the state will be elected to provide more dividends of democracy to the people.
On his part, the state Chairman of PDP, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan who conveyed the message of the party to the governor, thanked him for making the party proud through his commendable leadership strides, adding that the party is relentless in supporting his vision to grow the state.
He assured the governor of the total loyalty and unflinching support of all members of the party in the state, stressing that “by way of showing our gratitude, I have the permission of the entire Party structure to re-affirm our unshakable determination to ensure total victory for our PDP standard bearer, Pastor Umo Eno and Deputy Governorship Candidate, Senator (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi and other PDP candidates for State and National Assembly elections.
“For the past nineteen months that I have been on the saddle as State Chairman of PDP, our Party in the State has made tremendous progress through your leadership and inspiration as well as the team spirit of party officers and our ever-resilient supporters,” Akpan said.
On his part, the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Pastor Umo Eno, who also spoke at the event, lauded Gov. Emmanuel for his visionary leadership, declaring that “what His Excellency has not been able to achieve, I promise that we will accomplish and do even more when we come into office.”
Others who spoke, including the Speaker of State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, immediate past National Legal Adviser of the party and PDP Senatorial candidate for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, PDP candidate for Eket Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Ekong Sampson, all agreed that PDP has fared well with Governor Emmanuel at the helm of leadership in the state, declaring that PDP will not disappoint the people when elected at the 2023 polls.
A highpoint of the event was the presentation of party vehicles to Local Government Chapters of the Party.
The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, as well stakeholders from across all levels of the party.
