
No fewer than 237 students of Gombe Science Secondary School were said to have lost all their personal belongings in a fire incident that took place in the late hours of Wednesday.
The State Commissioner of Education Hajiya Aisha Ahmed attributed the fire incident which razed down 18 rooms to fluctuating electricity by the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED).
According to her, the incident took place while the students were in class for their evening classes and could not quench the fire or report the incident to the State fire fighters.
Ahmed further disclosed that, the students comprised of the Science College students and Students who are on Exchange Programme from various states of the federation.
The state Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, who visited the school, assured that, the State Government would put in place a machinery to resettle the students while work on the renovation of the affected structure would commence immediately.
