“We all appreciated the need to confront the menace (of insurgency) with one voice. All of us fully support the President and our security agencies in ensuring that peace and normalcy returns to the North East in particular and all parts of the country in general,” he said.
Speaking when he received national leaders of the Jamaatul Izalatul Bid’a wa Iqatatus sunna (JIBWIS) in Sokoto Tuesday, Tambuwal said religious groups have important roles to play in enlightening the people about skewed ideologies which are responsible for insurgency.
He said people should be very vigilant and assist the security agencies in their responsibilities to secure the nation.
Earlier in his remarks, JIBWIS national leader, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir commended Tambuwal on his efforts to enhance unity and understanding among various religious groups in the country.
He said that the Sokoto State government’s policies on education should be emulated by all states.
Jingir urged the Federal Government to take the issue of diversification of the economy seriously, adding that reliance of oil as the country’s main source of income has brought untold hardship to the people especially when the price of the commodity nosedives in the international market.
