The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Uche Secondus, has led a high powered delegation, Wednesday, to Sokoto State over the recent killing of 39 persons by armed bandits.
Those on the entourage were the Board of Trustees chairman, Senator Walin Jibrin, some of the party’s presidential aspirants, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former governors Attahiru Bafarawa, Ibrahim Shekarau and Sule Lamido. Others on the team were former governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun state as well as other members of the party’s National Working Committee.
Secondus, who spoke at the Government Sokoto, described killings in every part of the country as painful as Nigerians now live in fear not knowing where it will happen next.
“The killings are too many. From January till now, Nigerians cannot give an accurate figure of those who have lost their lives across this country”.
He, therefore, urged the Federal Government to stop the bloodbath, claiming that the Federal government has failed to secure the country as the primary responsibility of any government is to secure lives and property of her citizens.
He sympathized with Governor Tambuwal over the unfortunate situation in the state saying that the PDP family shared with the people of the state their sorrow and pains over the loss of lives.
Responding, Governor Tambuwal thanked his visitors for their condolence visit on the tragedy which had befallen the people of the state describing the incident as very unfortunate.
He said the security personnel in Sokoto have been trying to prevent the incident from occurring as the state had been receiving insecurity pressures from the Zamfara state border axis.
Tambuwal also praised the PDP delegation for the show of love for the people of the state over the incident.
